Chiropractic Care

At The Healing Theory, we believe in the body's natural ability to heal itself, and believe chiropractic treatments serve as a catalyst for this healing process.

Whether you're looking for relief from a recent injury, dealing with an ongoing issue, or simply looking for a regular check up and tuning, our Chiropractic team at The Healing Theory is here to help!

We believe that chiropractic care is much more than a 15-minute crack. We take the time during each visit to do a thorough assessment, identify underlying root causes of pain and challenges, and together build a treatment that focuses on current issues, preventative measures, and underlying causes.

Your health is in good hands at The Healing Theory!

A Few Conditions We Treat

We know first visits to a Chiropractor can be intimidating.  Rest assured, you're in good hands at The Healing Theory.

Whether you're a regular client of Chiropractic treatments or a first-time visitor, we believe that it's crucial to truly understand the underlying root causes of pain and discomfort so we can treat the whole body, and not just the acute pain or problem.

Every initial appointment is a full hour which includes reviewing a detailed medical history, we conduct a thorough physical assessment using a number of techniques, we discuss a detailed treatment plan and, of course, leverage a variety of techniques to conduct treatment.  When necessary, we send our patients home with a detailed exercise plan so they can continue on their Healing Journey while outside of the clinic.

Great customer service, super friendly and warm environment. I had never been to a chiropractor so I was a bit nervous, but everything was explained to me in depth. Amazing experience overall.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

What does a chiropractor actually do?

Chiropractors diagnose and treat conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine, joints, and surrounding muscles and nerves. At The Healing Theory, our chiropractors use spinal adjustments, joint manipulation, soft tissue therapy, and rehabilitation exercises to reduce pain, improve mobility, and support your body's natural ability to heal. Chiropractic care goes well beyond "cracking backs" - it's a structured clinical approach to restoring how your body moves and functions.

What conditions do your chiropractors treat?

Our chiropractors treat a wide range of conditions including low back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, disc herniations, shoulder and hip pain, knee and ankle issues, posture-related pain, repetitive strain injuries, and sports injuries. If you're not sure whether chiropractic is right for your specific concern, book a free 15-minute meet-and-greet and we'll point you in the right direction.

Is chiropractic care covered by insurance?

Yes, chiropractic visits are covered by most extended health benefit plans in Canada. Coverage limits vary by plan, so we recommend checking with your provider before your first visit. We offer direct billing to most major insurance carriers, and our front desk team can help confirm your coverage before your appointment.

What should I expect on my first chiropractic visit?

Your first visit includes a thorough health history review, a physical assessment of your posture, range of motion, and the affected area, and a discussion of your goals and concerns. Depending on your presentation, your chiropractor may provide treatment on the first visit or recommend additional assessments. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what's going on and a recommended treatment plan.

Will I hear a "crack" during my adjustment?

Not necessarily, and that sound is not what indicates success. The audible pop sometimes heard during a spinal adjustment is simply the release of gas from the joint - it's harmless and painless for most people. Many effective chiropractic techniques produce no sound at all. Your chiropractor will always explain the technique they're using and discuss alternatives if you prefer a gentler approach.

How many visits will I need?

This depends entirely on your condition, how long you've had it, your overall health, and your goals. Acute injuries often respond well within 4 to 8 visits. Chronic or complex conditions may require a longer course of care. Your chiropractor will give you a realistic treatment plan at your first visit, including what progress looks like and when you should re-evaluate. We don't believe in indefinite treatment - the goal is always to get you better and keep you that way.

Can I see a chiropractor if I've never been before and I'm nervous?

Absolutely. Many of our patients have never seen a chiropractor before and are unsure what to expect. Both Dr. Laura and Dr. Nigel take time to explain every step of the assessment and treatment before doing anything, and will always adjust their approach based on your comfort level. You can also book a free 15-minute meet-and-greet to ask questions and get comfortable before committing to a full appointment.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No referral is needed. You can book directly online or by calling us. Some insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement purposes, so it's worth checking your plan details - but clinically, you can access chiropractic care directly.

Can chiropractic care work alongside other treatments I'm already receiving?

Yes, and at The Healing Theory this is one of our greatest strengths. Chiropractic care integrates naturally with physiotherapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, and naturopathic medicine. If you're already working with another practitioner at the clinic, your chiropractor will coordinate care to make sure your treatments are complementary rather than overlapping.
