We believe the foundation of your body's health starts with your feet.
Poor foot mechanics can affect your entire body. Misalignment at the feet can lead to compensatory patterns in the knees, hips, and spine. Custom orthotics correct these imbalances at the source, providing a stable foundation for the rest of your body.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about custom orthotics at The Healing Theory.
What Are Custom Orthotics?
+Custom orthotics are specially designed shoe insoles created specifically for your feet and body. Unlike over-the-counter insoles, custom orthotics are fabricated based on a comprehensive biomechanical assessment and 3D foot scanning. They correct foot mechanics, improve alignment, and reduce pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips, and lower back.
How Do I Know if I Need Orthotics?
+You may benefit from custom orthotics if you experience foot, ankle, knee, hip, or lower back pain; have flat feet or high arches; overpronate or supinate when walking; have postural imbalances; or deal with repetitive strain from walking or standing. A biomechanical assessment with one of our chiropractors will help determine if orthotics are right for you.
How Long Do Custom Orthotics Last?
+Custom orthotics typically last 1-3 years depending on how frequently you wear them, your body weight, activity level, and the types of shoes you wear them in. Over time, the materials may compress or wear down. Your chiropractor will monitor their condition during follow-up appointments and let you know when replacements are needed.
Are Custom Orthotics Covered by Insurance?
+Coverage for custom orthotics varies by insurance plan. Many extended health benefit plans in Canada do cover a portion of the cost. We recommend checking with your insurance provider about your specific coverage. We also offer direct billing to most major carriers. We recommend confirming your coverage with your insurance provider prior to your appointment.
What's the Difference Between Custom Orthotics and Store-Bought Insoles?
+Store-bought insoles are generic and designed for average feet. Custom orthotics are specifically fabricated based on your unique biomechanics, gait pattern, and lifestyle. They provide targeted support to correct your specific alignment issues at the source, rather than just adding cushioning. This personalized approach leads to better outcomes for pain relief and prevention.
How Long Does the Fitting Process Take?
+The initial assessment and fitting typically takes 30 minutes. This includes a postural assessment, gait analysis, 3D foot scanning, and discussion of your lifestyle and goals. After your scan, the orthotics are custom-fabricated by our lab partner, which usually takes 1-2 weeks. A follow-up appointment is scheduled to fit and adjust your new orthotics.
What is Your Cancellation Policy?
+We ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations and no-shows may be subject to a fee. We understand that life happens - if you're running into a barrier getting to the clinic, call us and we'll do our best to find a solution that works for you.
